Pediatric Chiropractic

Chiropractic care will help children of all ages to grow and develop properly with a healthy spine and optimal nerve and immune system function which will help prevent and fight off ear infections, asthma, allergies, headaches and more.

What age is safe to start chiropractic care for children?

Dr. Luke Stringer: We like to educate our families with the saying, “from womb to tomb,” so chiropractic is safe for all age ranges. Our youngest patient in our office are actually six weeks premature. We like to educate in our families that it is easier to get kids healthy than to fix sick adults.

Why would infants and small children need chiropractic care?

Dr. Luke Stringer: The birthing process could be a traumatic experience, especially for births that are using forceps or Cesarean to deliver the baby. Essentially, the baby’s head and neck is yanked on during the delivery process, which can cause misalignment in the upper neck area. The upper neck area is the most neurological-dense area of the spine. Having this area checked and, essentially, adjusted and in alignment can help prevent any further health issues from manifesting.

What are some chronic pediatric conditions that upper cervical chiropractic can help with?

Dr. Luke Stringer: Ear infections are one of the most common and chronic issues we see in our office with our children. The misalignment of the upper cervical vertebrae can block the eustachian tube drainage, which antibiotics and tubes don’t address. Adjustments help realign the spine and prevent the ear from clogging and blocking, which causes the infections.

Can upper cervical chiropractic care help treat asthma and allergy symptoms?

Dr. Luke Stringer: Yes. The C2 vertebra or the second vertebra in your neck innervates your sinuses. When this joint is fixed and/or out of alignment, it can, essentially, cause allergies. It is the same for the nerves in our upper back, as they control and innervate our heart and lung function. Children do really well. Children who suffer with allergies and asthma do really, really well with chiropractic care.

How can ongoing chiropractic care make kids stronger and healthier?

Dr. Luke Stringer: Research has shown that chiropractic care boosts our immune system and our GI function. 70% of our immune system is actually found within our gut. Chiropractic care focuses on the spine and its alignment. When our spine is in alignment, our nerves are allowed to function without interference. This enables our bodies to function in its optimal rate, which allows our children to grow and develop, essentially, to their body’s maximum potential.
