K-Laser Therapy

K-Laser therapy uses a Class 4 laser to increase circulation to joints and damaged muscle tissue to promote healing and reduce inflammation and pain.

What kinds of conditions do you treat with K-Laser Therapy?

Dr. Luke Stringer: K-Laser Therapy is a methodology that works really well with the chiropractic care we do in our office and it is fantastic at treating specifically joint issues such as the knee and the shoulder, which we most commonly do in our office, but it is also great at treating sports injuries such as sprains and strains within a muscle.

How exactly does the K-Laser stimulate the healing process?

Dr. Luke Stringer: Without getting too technical, it’s a Class 4 laser and it is the best laser on the market. Essentially, it has four parameters and each parameter does a different type of healing within joint and the tissue but essentially, in layman’s terms, laser energy increases the circulation and by increasing the circulation you draw water, oxygen, and nutrients to the damaged area. This creates an optimal healing environment and by doing this you can reduce inflammation, swelling, get rid of muscle spasm, stiffness, and essentially pain.

How long does the average treatment take?

Dr. Luke Stringer: It all depends on the patient and the size of the area that we are treating but treatments usually take anywhere between four and eight minutes.

How many treatments does it typically take for a patient to see results?

Dr. Luke Stringer: Again, it is dependent upon the condition that we are treating but however the more acute or the newer injuries usually take between four and six treatments to see some really positive results. The more chronic issues, those issues that have been around for some time, usually take a little longer. Usually six to twelve visits. Your really complicated issues such as arthritis or degeneration can take a little longer still, but they are usually managed in conjunction with other things that we are doing in the office.

Are there any risks or side effects from K-Laser Therapy?

Dr. Luke Stringer: The treatment is painless and essentially there are no side effects. I think over the 20 years that K-Laser has been on the market, there have been no side effects reported. The only thing patients may experience is a slight increase in the sensitivity to the injured area. However, I see this as a good sign because it essentially indicates that we are making a positive change. We are creating some healing process within the area.
